To restore a deleted page in Notion on Mac, open Trash at the bottom of the left sidebar, find the page, and click the curved arrow next to it. The page returns to the place it last occupied, as long as it is still in Trash, which keeps pages for 30 days by default.

## Quick answer

- Open Trash at the bottom of the left sidebar in the Notion desktop app.
- Search or filter to find the page, then click the curved arrow next to it.
- The page returns to the place it last occupied in your workspace.
- Trash holds pages for 30 days by default. After that, Notion deletes them for good.
- Version history brings back older edits. It does not bring back a deleted page.

Applies to: Notion desktop app on macOS 13 Ventura or later. Time: 5 min. Difficulty: Easy.

## What you need

- Notion desktop app for Mac, or Notion in a browser on the same Mac
- A Mac running macOS 13 Ventura or later, per a third-party report
- The page was deleted less than 30 days ago, or you are ready to contact Notion support
- Access to the workspace where the page lived

## How to Restore a deleted page from Trash in Notion on Mac in Notion on a Mac

1. **Open the Notion desktop app.** Open Notion from the Applications folder or the Dock. Sign in to the workspace where the page lived. These steps follow the Mac app, so use it rather than a browser tab. Tip: Notion's help says the restore steps match on desktop and web. The Mac app is the version this page covers.
2. **Update the app if your sidebar looks different.** (Notion > Check for Updates) Click Notion in the menu bar and choose Check for Updates. Restart the app after the update finishes, then look at the sidebar again. Tip: If you are on macOS 12, the update will not install. See the macOS check later on this page.
3. **Open Trash from the sidebar.** (Sidebar > Trash) Look at the bottom of the left sidebar and click Trash. Notion's sidebar guide describes Trash as a recycle bin where you can recover deleted content. Tip: Do not look under Inbox. Notion renamed the old Updates menu to Inbox, and Inbox does not hold deleted pages.
4. **Search for the page title.** Type two or three distinct words from the page title into the search field in Trash. A short common word returns too many matches. Tip: If you forgot the title, try a word you remember from the content inside the page.
5. **Filter the list if the search is too broad.** Use the filters to narrow the list by Last edited by, In, or Teamspace. Pick the person who edited the page last, or the place it sat in the workspace. Tip: Clear the filters when you finish, so the next search starts from the full list.
6. **Open the page and confirm it.** Click the page to open it. A page in Trash cannot be edited until you restore it, so read it first and make sure it is the right one.
7. **Click the curved arrow to restore.** Go back to the Trash list. Find the row for the page and click the curved-arrow restore icon beside it. Notion's help says the page returns to the location it last occupied. Tip: The curved arrow is the restore control in Notion's help. Your version may label it differently, so look for that icon.
8. **Check where the page landed.** Open the location the page had before, and confirm it appears there. Read the content too. Third-party guides say a restored page can land at the bottom of a block, which Notion's help does not confirm. Tip: If the page matters, test the restore with a throwaway page first, so you know how your workspace behaves.
9. **Search the workspace if the page is not in Trash.** (Notion > Command Search) A page that was moved can look deleted. Use Command Search from the menu bar to look for the title across the workspace, then open the result to see where the page sits now. Tip: Notion's Mac help says Command Search is available from the menu bar. Use it before you contact support.
10. **Contact support after 30 days.** If the page is gone from Trash and the 30 day window has passed, click the ? icon and contact Notion support. Ask for a snapshot restore and include the page title and the date you deleted it. Tip: The help articles disagree on where the ? icon sits. Check the bottom of the sidebar first, then the bottom-right corner of the window.

Notion's help center does not list a separate Mac menu for restoring pages. It describes one path for desktop and web. A deleted page waits in Trash until you restore it or the retention window runs out. Most of the work is finding the right page, not clicking the restore button.

- **30 days** Pages stay in Trash by default before automatic permanent deletion ([source](https://www.notion.com/help/back-up-your-data))
- **macOS 13** Oldest macOS the Notion desktop app supports now, per a third-party report ([source](https://adaptd.ai/updates/notion-desktop-beta-macos-13/))
- **7 days** Version history retention on the Free plan, a separate feature from Trash ([source](https://www.notion.com/pricing))

## Find Trash in the Notion Mac app

Look at the bottom of the left sidebar, and you will see Trash. Notion's sidebar guide calls it a recycle bin where you can recover deleted content. The menu that used to be called Updates is now Inbox, so do not look there. Inbox is for notification triage, not deleted pages.

The keyboard shortcuts page lists block deletion with Backspace or Delete and the /delete slash command. It lists nothing for opening Trash or restoring a page. Plan on a mouse click for this job. If a guide promises a restore shortcut, check Notion's official list first.

## Find the right page when Trash has many pages

Trash can collect many pages over a month, especially in a shared workspace. Start with the search box. Type two or three distinct words from the title, because a short common word returns too many matches. If the list is still long, use the filters.

- Last edited by: use this when someone else deleted the page. It filters on the person who made the last change.
- In: narrows the list to the place the page came from in your workspace.
- Teamspace: narrows the list to one teamspace, which helps in a workspace with several.

Here is a worked example. A colleague deleted the Q3 planning page last Tuesday. Open Trash, filter by Last edited by, and pick the name of whoever edited it last. Then search for Q3. The list gets short enough to scan in a few seconds.

## How long a deleted page stays in Trash

Notion keeps a deleted page in Trash for 30 days by default. After that, the page is permanently deleted automatically. Only Enterprise plan workspace owners can change this window. If you are on any other plan, plan around 30 days.

The clock is easy to misjudge. Count from the day you deleted the page, not the day you noticed it missing. Suppose you deleted a page on 1 November. Treat 1 December as the last safe day, and restore the page before then.

| Stage | How long | What it means |
| --- | --- | --- |
| In Trash | 30 days by default | Restore with the curved arrow next to the page. Enterprise owners can change the window. |
| After permanent deletion | 30 days | Notion says pages stay retained, then become inaccessible to all users, including owners. |
| Version history on Free | 7 days | Reverts a page's content to an earlier version. It does not restore a deleted page. |

## What to do after 30 days in Trash

Trash cannot bring back a page once the window ends. Notion's help says support can restore a snapshot of a page from the past 30 days. Contact support through the ? icon. Notion's two help articles disagree on where that icon sits. One says the bottom-right corner, and the other says the bottom of the sidebar. Look in both places.

When you write to support, give the page title, the workspace name, and the date you deleted it. A snapshot is a copy from a point inside that 30 day span. It may not match your last edit, so compare it with what you remember before you rely on it.

## Restore an older version instead of a deleted page

Version history is a different tool. It reverts a page's content to an earlier version, and Notion's help says it is separate from restoring a deleted page. Open it from the ••• menu at the top of the page, then choose Version history. Use it when the page still exists but the text went wrong.

Retention depends on your plan. The pricing page lists 7 days on Free, 30 days on Plus, 90 days on Business, and a custom period on Enterprise. Notion's 3.8 release on 13 October 2026 says you can review what changed, see who changed it, and restore prior versions with a quick click.

- Free: 7 days
- Plus: 30 days
- Business: 90 days

Version history will not bring back a deleted page. Once a page has left Trash, this feature cannot help with it.

## Mistakes that make a page look deleted

Most missing pages are not gone. Third-party guides describe a few common causes. Notion's official help does not confirm them, so treat each one as something to check, not a rule.

- The page was moved, not deleted. Search its title across the workspace before you assume Trash is the only place to look.
- A database filter hides the row. Clear the filters on that database, then search again.
- The sync has not finished. Wait a minute, then reopen the app and check your connection.
- You are in the wrong workspace. Confirm the workspace name before you search or restore.

Check sub-pages too. A third-party guide says restoring a parent can bring back its trashed children, and that a child can stay behind. Search Trash for each sub-page title and restore it on its own if it is still there.

## Check your macOS and Notion version first

The desktop app now needs macOS 13 Ventura or later, according to a third-party report on the 7.39 beta. Version 7.38.1 was the last release to support macOS 12. The newest version we could confirm is 7.39, released 15 October 2026.

To find your macOS version, open the Apple menu, choose About This Mac, and read the version under the name. If you are on macOS 12, you will stay on 7.38.1 or earlier. The browser version of Notion follows the same restore steps.

The 7.39 build also added an opt-in desktop beta with faster, lighter tabs. You do not need it to restore a page. Compare your setup with our [system requirements guide](https://www.lazur.app/how-to/check-system-requirements-in-notion) if you are not sure what your Mac can run.

## Protect your pages before the next delete

Restores are easier when you do not need them. Notion's back-up article covers the 30 day window and the snapshot restore, so read it before you need it. For pages you cannot afford to lose, keep a copy you control.

The [export guide](https://www.lazur.app/how-to/export-a-page-in-notion) covers PDF, HTML, and Markdown. Export a page before a big rewrite, or before a cleanup day in your workspace.

- Search Trash once a month, so you catch deletions inside the 30 day window.
- Export pages that hold research, contracts, or long drafts.
- Write the page title and workspace name in a note outside Notion.
- Check version history before a big edit, so you can roll back the text.

If the page is still in Trash, restore it today. Every day you wait is a day less in the 30 day window.

## If it does not work

- **The page is not in Trash** Search the title across the workspace first. Third-party guides report that moved pages look deleted, so check the page's current location before you assume it is gone.
- **Trash rows show no restore icon** Notion's help describes a curved arrow on each row. If it is missing, update the desktop app with Notion > Check for Updates, reopen Trash, and check again.
- **The page came back without its sub-pages** Search Trash for each missing sub-page title and restore it the same way. A third-party guide says child pages can stay behind when the parent returns.
- **The page was deleted more than 30 days ago** Trash can no longer restore it. Contact Notion support through the ? icon. Notion says it can restore a snapshot of a page from the past 30 days.
- **The restored page landed in the wrong place** Notion's help says the page returns to its last location. If it lands somewhere else, move it by hand and tell support what happened, with the page title and date.
- **The Mac will not run the latest desktop app** The desktop app now needs macOS 13 or later, per a third-party report. Check your version under Apple menu > About This Mac, then use the browser version of Notion for restores.

## FAQ

### Can I restore a deleted Notion page in the Mac app without a browser?

Yes. Notion's help center says the same steps work on desktop and web, including Mac. Open Trash from the bottom of the left sidebar, find the page, and click the curved arrow next to it.

### How long do deleted pages stay in Trash in Notion?

30 days by default. Notion says pages are permanently deleted automatically after that. Only Enterprise plan workspace owners can change the setting.

### Can I restore a page after it has been permanently deleted?

Not from Trash. Notion says support can restore a snapshot of a page from the past 30 days. Contact support through the ? icon and include the page title and the date you deleted it.

### What is the difference between Trash and version history?

Trash brings back a whole deleted page. Version history reverts a page's content to an earlier version, and Notion treats it as a separate feature. Open it from the ••• menu at the top of the page and choose Version history.

### Does Command Z bring back a deleted page?

Do not count on it. Some third-party guides mention undo, but Notion's keyboard shortcuts page does not list one for deleted pages. Trash is the path Notion documents.

### Can I empty Trash in one click?

No. Notion's help says you must open each page in Trash and permanently delete it individually.

### Which plan gives the longest version history?

The pricing page lists 7 days on Free, 30 days on Plus, 90 days on Business, and a custom period on Enterprise. Those numbers apply to version history, not to Trash.
