TL;DR
- Lazur and Clicky are both voice-first AI buddies for Mac that see your screen and answer out loud.
- Lazur lives in the notch, circles things on screen, walks you through apps step by step, handles everyday Mac actions and types for you. Clicky sits beside your cursor and leans on agents and SaaS connectors.
- If you want help learning apps and getting small tasks done without leaving them, try Lazur; if your work is mostly in Notion, Gmail and Calendar, Clicky's connectors are worth a look.
Lazur and Clicky (from HeyClicky) belong to the same new category: an AI buddy that lives on your Mac, sees your screen and talks with you. They feel similar for the first minute. They differ in where they live, how they help, and what they do for you without a prompt-writing session.
We make Lazur, so read this with that in mind. We've tried to describe Clicky fairly from its public materials; features and prices change, so check heyclicky.com for the latest.

Where they really differ
Showing vs. telling
Both can tell you where something is. Lazur also shows you: it finds the exact element on screen and draws a hand-drawn circle with a label, even for icons with no text, like Control Center in the menu bar. For multi-step tasks ("how do I turn on dark mode?") it circles the first click, waits for you to click, looks again, and circles the next. That's the difference between instructions and a guide.
Small actions, done
A lot of an assistant's value is in the small stuff. Lazur sets a timer that ticks in your notch, adds a reminder to Apple Reminders, puts an event on your calendar, plays music, opens the app or page you named, or runs your Shortcuts. You say it; it's done before you'd have found the window.
Background jobs
Both can work in the background. Lazur's jobs run in your own Chrome (through its extension), so they can use sites you're already signed into, and they stop to ask before anything they can't undo. You get a short spoken summary and a full report.
Typing
Lazur started as a dictation app and it shows: hold fn anywhere and you get clean, punctuated text, with lists formatted, ums removed and corrections applied ("Friday, no, Thursday" becomes "Thursday"). Snippets and a personal dictionary come with it.
Privacy
Lazur listens and looks only while you hold its shortcut. The audio and one screenshot are sent to answer you and aren't stored, and your content is never used to train models. See Lazur's privacy policy for exactly what goes where, and compare it with Clicky's.
Which should you pick?
- Pick Lazur if you want an AI buddy that teaches you apps by pointing, handles everyday Mac tasks by voice, and types for you.
- Pick Clicky if you prefer a cursor-side companion and your work runs through tools it connects to.
The honest answer is to try both on a real day. Lazur's first three days of Pro are free, no card needed.
