Quick answer

  • Open the page, click the ••• icon at the top right, then choose More > Export.
  • Pick PDF, HTML, or Markdown & CSV. HTML and Markdown exports arrive as a zip file.
  • Export is not in the Mac menu bar, and Notion documents no keyboard shortcut for it.
  • The desktop app cannot print directly. Export to PDF, then print the PDF.
  • For a whole workspace, use Settings > General under Workspace. The link expires after 7 days.

What you need

  • Notion desktop app on macOS 13 or later, or Notion in a browser
  • Access to the page, with Full access if you are a guest
  • A workspace or teamspace where export is turned on
  • Include subpages for PDF needs a Business or Enterprise plan

How to Export one Notion page on a Mac in Notion on a Mac

  1. Open the page in the Notion desktop app

Open Notion and go to the page you want to export. If the page is open in a browser, click ••• then More, then Open in Mac app to open it in the desktop app first.

Tip: Notion says the desktop app updates automatically, so you rarely need to reinstall it.

  2. Click the ••• icon on the page

    ••• (top right of page)

Look at the upper-right corner of the page. Click the ••• icon to open the page menu. It sits inside the page, not in the Mac menu bar.

  3. Open More, then choose Export

    •••MoreExport

In the page menu, open More. Then choose Export. The Export window opens with the format options.

  4. Pick PDF, HTML, or Markdown & CSV

    Export windowFormat dropdown

Open the format dropdown in the Export window and select PDF, HTML, or Markdown & CSV. Pick the format based on what you will do with the file next.

  5. Set the PDF options if you chose PDF

    Export windowInclude content

Open Include content and choose everything, or exclude files and images. Set Page format for paper size. Change Scale percent only if the default does not fit your page.

Tip: Custom emojis do not appear in PDF exports, so plan around that before you share the file.

  6. Switch on Include subpages if you need child pages

Turn on Include subpages when the page has child pages you want. For PDF, this option is limited to Business and Enterprise plans, and the download link arrives by email. For HTML and Markdown & CSV, it is a simple switch.

Tip: If you do not see the PDF switch, check your plan before you assume the option is gone.

  7. Click Export and wait for the file

Click Export. A download usually starts. Very large exports may arrive by email instead, so check your inbox if nothing downloads.

Tip: If a PDF export fails, Notion exports HTML instead. Check the file type before you share it.

  8. Unzip HTML and Markdown exports

HTML and Markdown & CSV exports arrive as a zip file. Double click the zip to extract it, then open the folder for the page you need.

Tip: Long file paths can block extraction on Windows. Use 7-Zip there if the zip will not open.

Export one page from the Notion desktop app

Open the page first. Then look at the upper-right corner of the page for the ••• icon. That icon opens the page menu, and export lives inside it, under More. It is not in the Mac menu bar, so skip the menu bar entirely.

Notion's help center describes this same path for single pages. It works from the desktop app and from a page open in a browser. Once the Export window opens, the format you pick decides the rest of the choices.

Choose PDF, HTML, or Markdown & CSV

The format dropdown decides what you get back. PDF gives you one file that looks like the page. HTML and Markdown & CSV give you a zip file instead. Pick the format by what you will do with the file next.

Export formats on a Notion page, from Notion's export help.
FormatWhat you getPick it when
PDFOne PDF file, with Include content, Page format, and Scale percent optionsYou need a fixed copy to read, share, or print
HTMLA zip file of web pages that opens in any browserYou want an offline copy you can browse
Markdown & CSVA zip file. Regular pages become Markdown, and full-page databases become CSVYou want the text in another editor or tool

PDF has three settings. Include content lets you export everything, or exclude files and images. Page format sets the paper size. Scale percent is optional, so change it only when the default size looks wrong.

Two PDF limits trip people up. Custom emojis do not appear in PDF exports. Very large exports may also arrive by email instead of starting a download, so check your inbox if nothing downloads after you click Export.

Include subpages: what it does and which plan gets it

Include subpages exports the child pages under the page you chose. For PDF, Notion's help ties this option to Business and Enterprise plans. You get a zip of nested PDFs, and the download link arrives by email.

For HTML and Markdown & CSV, Include subpages is a simple switch. Turn it on before you click Export. With HTML, each page gets its own folder, and its assets are saved separately, so files stay with the page they belong to.

If you do not see the PDF switch, check your plan first. I could not confirm the full plan table on Notion's pricing page, so check it for your plan before you rely on the option. Your admin can also tell you which plan the workspace uses.

The Notion desktop app has no direct print option. Cmd+P does not print either. Notion's keyboard shortcut list shows ⌘ P as search, or as a jump to a recently viewed page.

Here is the route that works. Export the page to PDF using the steps above. Then open the PDF and print it from the app that opens it. Full-page databases cannot be printed this way, so export them to PDF first as well.

In a browser, File > Print works and can save the page as a PDF. That is a second route if the page is already open in a browser tab.

Export from a browser, or open the page in the Mac app

If you work in a browser tab, the export path is the same. Click ••• at the top right of the page, choose More, then Export. If you would rather work in the Mac app, click ••• then More, then Open in Mac app, and the page opens in the desktop app.

Export every page in a workspace at once

Single-page export handles one page at a time. For everything, go to Settings > General under Workspace, then select Export all workspace content. Notion emails you a download link. That link expires after 7 days, so download the file the same week.

A whole-workspace export works on desktop or web only. It can take up to 30 hours, depending on how big the workspace is. Private pages of other users are left out, and teamspace settings can exclude more content.

Be careful with PDF at workspace level. Notion's backup help says that option is going away, with an August 31, 2026 deadline. That date has passed. I could not confirm full removal, so check the export dialog before you plan around it.

Individual pages can still be exported as PDF. Workspace exports remain available as HTML, Markdown, or CSV. A workspace export also cannot be reimported to rebuild the workspace, according to Notion's backup help, so treat it as an archive.

Fix export errors and failed downloads

Most export problems come from four causes. The link expired, the workspace is too large, the Export option is missing, or the page is not visible to you. Each cause has a specific fix in Notion's help center.

If a PDF export fails, Notion exports HTML instead. So check what file arrived before you assume you have a PDF. If a whole workspace export fails, Notion's backup help suggests a batch workaround.

Use the batch workaround when the workspace is too big. Open a top-level page, click •••, choose Export, pick a format, and turn on Include subpages. Repeat for each top-level page you need, rather than running one giant export.

No Export option in the ••• menu? A workspace or teamspace may have disabled it. Guests need Full access to export. Ask an admin before you spend time hunting for the option.

Mistakes people make when exporting from Notion on Mac

The first mistake is looking for Export in the menu bar. It lives under the ••• icon on the page. The second is pressing ⌘ P and expecting a printer. It opens search instead.

The third mistake is forgetting Include subpages on a parent page. You then get one page when you wanted the whole section. Check the switch before you click Export, every time.

The fourth is opening an HTML or Markdown export without unzipping it. Double click the zip first, then open the folder for the page you need. The fifth is sharing a zip with a Windows user who cannot extract it. Paths over 260 characters block extraction on Windows. Ask them to use 7-Zip, or re-export with Create folders for subpages unchecked. I could not confirm that checkbox appears in the Mac dialog.

Check your macOS and Notion version before you export

The Notion desktop app needs macOS 13 or later. Notion's system requirements page gives that as the minimum. If your Mac runs an older version, use Notion in a browser for export.

Notion's help does not list a build number for the Mac app. To check for updates, open the Notion menu and choose Check for Updates. Notion says the app updates itself, and ⌘ R refreshes it to show new features.

You may see version 7.42.3 in a third-party listing. Homebrew's Notion cask shows that number and also needs macOS 13 or later. The number comes from Homebrew, not from Notion, so treat it as a hint only.

Ask Lazur where the export controls are

Lazur is a voice assistant for the Mac. Hold ⌥ ⌘ (Option and Command) and ask about anything on your screen. Lazur answers out loud. Ask where a control is, and Lazur draws a circle and a label around it.

Ask how to do something, and Lazur guides you one click at a time, waiting for each click. With a page open, you can ask 'where is the export button' or 'walk me through exporting as PDF'. Lazur points at the ••• icon, then waits while you click.

Lazur does not click for you, and it does not run the export. It is not a plugin for Notion, and it does not change your pages. You stay in control of every click.

Next steps after you export

Open the file to check it. For a PDF, scroll through the layout, the images, and the paper size. For HTML or Markdown, unzip the file and open the folder for the page. A quick check now saves a second export later.

If you only need someone to read the page, a share link may suit better. The guide covers permissions and links in how to share a page in Notion on Mac.

If the page sits on your iPhone, the share menu includes AirDrop. You can send a PDF from there to your Mac. That route skips the desktop app entirely.

Not set up yet? The install guide for the Notion desktop app covers macOS 13 and later. When you want a voice guide for your screen, the Lazur download is the next step.
